Day 9

7/2/2007

Another day on the road. Today, we headed out of Vladez, back to Glennallen, then SouthWest toward Anchorage. Several hundred miles of this trip are designated "Scenic Byways" Well, it was raining so much that there was not much scenic to be seen. Just like home.

Even with the rain, it was still clearer near the
summit of Thompson Pass, so we hopped out of the truck and took a look around the Worthington Glacier.

Stopped at one of the Costco's in Anchorage. Found some Reindeer Sausage. I thought that would be different and something Patrick could probably eat. Only problem is, Reindeer was the 4th ingredient on the list after beef, pork and water. Guess they don't want to overdue the reindeer.

Next we headed for the other side of the big city of Anchorage down to a campground near the Portage Glacier. It was the nearest campground to Anchorage with the holiday weekend going on. Patrick and I had dinner then headed back to Anchorage to pick up Elizabeth. We are finally together as a family again. Her flight was late. We didn't make it back to camp, which was about a 50 mile drive from ANC until around 01:00 in the morning. It was still light.

Mileage for the day - 472
